COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Upon completion of the "Just-in-Time" BLS PROVIDER course, students will have the skills necessary to:
- Provide life-saving measures to those experiencing cardiac arrest, through the use of high-quality, effective CPR as well as an AED as a means to sustain life until advanced lifesaving measures are available and transfer of care occurs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in providing BLS care including prioritizing chest compressions and integrating the use of an AED.
- Demonstrate proficiency in providing BLS care through ventilation using bag-mask devices, barrier devices, and recognizing foreign-body airway obstruction.
DESCRIPTION: The "Just-in-Time" BLS Provider classes are just what they sound like: last minute certifications to keep you on the schedule at your place of employment! You are paying a premium price but will be CERTIFIED RIGHT, and be assured and confident in your provision of life-saving health care. Pre-course study is imperative.
Through didactic instruction and active participation in simulated cases students will gain the skills necessary to intervene in a cardiac emergency in an attempt to sustain life until more advanced life-saving measures can be obtained. Class duration is approximately 4.5 hours in length, depending upon the preparedness of the student with pre-course study.
COURSE CONTENT:
Key changes in cardiovascular life support reflecting the most current American Heart Association guidelines.
Adult, pediatric, and infant CPR.
Use of an Automated External Defibrillation (AED)
Cardiopulmonary, stroke, choking emergencies.
One-rescuer and two-rescuer scenarios.
INTENDED FOR:
Expired BLS certification personnel only! If you are a first time (Initial) certification you cannot enroll in this class. You must enroll in a regular class (not a "Just-in-Time" class). Contact us to see if we can work out a class for you if you are a first time certification. Intended for personnel such as Physicians, Nurses, Respiratory Therapists, EMTs, Police Officers, Teachers, etc., and anyone who may respond to a cardiovascular emergency in a professional setting, whether licensed as a health-care provider or not.
LICENSE INFORMATION:
Indicate in the "comments" section when you register: the State your license was issued in, your license type (RN, RT, PT, etc), and your license number.
STUDENT MANUAL:
AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION MANDATORY REQUIREMENT: A current AHA BLS student manual is required to be brought to class. We have exhausted our supply, so students are responsbile to obtain a manual on their own. Students without a current manual or without access to an e-book for use during class will not be admitted to class. Students may provide their own manual as long as it is the current edition.
